Big daddy stacks to the rescue!
It’s Prime time! This is one crazy big toy.
The leader class Optimus Prime for the ’07 line was awesome, until I got this one. Now I’ve totally forgotten about it. ROTF Prime is a huge step up in transformation and aesthetics. Also he likes to tell you his name, over and over and over.
-Semi-truck mode-
Prime remains the same blue and red flame Peter Built semi truck for ROTF.
Sadly there is no “Honk honk” truck noise on this Prime. Just idle truck sounds.
No rubber wheels either.
Oh no! I had to break the 4th wall to get this shot. But seriously, see how much better the new leader class looks in Semi-mode? It’s not as boxy and cut up as the ’07 version.
Oh no! I did it again.
OK, while I’m at it I might as well do this. “Autobots, Roll out!”
-Transformation-
Video to be the soon..
-Bot-mode-
The new Leader class is much closer to his on screen appearance. It’s hard to believe that Hasbro would turnout such an advanced transformation to the mainĀ stream audience. But here he is.
One little gripe I have is that his hands aren’t articulated.
Nice to see that he doesn’t have huge fenders hanging off his thighs this time.
Prime gets dual blade action, a later Japanese release will give Prime a transforming gun. Check out Buster Prime!
“Seriously Shia, get off me.”
“Hey ladies. Who wants to party with Big daddy stacks?”
Broke that darn wall again, darn these things for being huge. Darn it! Look how much better ROTF Prime looks than his boxy ’07 counterpart.
-Score-
Aesthetics:5 -Big points here. He looks so much better than the older leader class. His truck mode doesn’t suffer from all the separation lines either. Quality:4 -Nothing is loose or floppy, the paint apps could be a little cleaner. Pose-ability:3 -He has a good range on motion in his arm and legs, but the energon blade restrict the arms when they are folded up, and Prime is very top heavy so holding a pose can be difficult. Transformation:5 -A very involved transformation, it’s more complex than the ’07′s transformation, yet the Semi mode doesn’t suffer from a bunch of separation lines. Features:2 -Dual blades, a strange “flexing” movement followed with a voice clip that says “I am Optimus Prime” at least the voice clip is of Peter Cullen. The voice feature is very easy to trip while transforming Prime, it can get irritating. Overall:4 -If your thinking about getting this figure, you may want to wait till Buster Prime comes out. Well that is if you want to pay more than double for the figure. Either way, this figure is totally worth it. This is pretty much the definitive Movie Optimus Prime.-Tom.B
