Not so live Comic con report.
Whoo, what a week at Comic con 09. I meet a lot of cool people, I bought a ton of stuff, and I got crazy sick and started coughing up blood. But it’s all good now (I hope). I’ll have a ton of photos to put up, and some more toy reviews of the Comic con exclusives. This post will be updated frequently, so check back often.
A Con tradition for most people is to cram as many bodies into a room as possible. It’s like a college prank, that lasts 5 days, and needs a shower.
Chapter 1: The Room with a view, and a smell.
The tiled floors were awesome, I felt so privileged just to walk on them.
Here’s a shot of the dump we were staying in, man this place was sleazy (for newcomers to the site be on your toes for random sarcasm).
We all found ways to entertain ourselves so no one had to talk to each other.
Someones junk.
Other someones junk.
My junk.
My junk was the coolest BTW.
Night 3: Some homeless guy was in our room.
No one should ever be this close to Matt B.
A view of the city from our room. The local natives had erected monuments in honor of CD storage towers.
The trees here seemed to have a body image issue, but hey, this was in California.
What trip wouldn’t be complete without a lens flare.
Chapter 2: People and cool stuff.
The adventure continued for a few days. It seemed like every time I turned around I was getting nailed in the chest by someones elbow, or hit in the gut with a backpack. And in one disgusting situation, someone sneezed on the back of my head…..
So many people.
You’ll notice the absences of people around Snake eyes. That’s because he was replicating Snake eye’s famous odor barrier attack. Seriously guy, you may wanna wash that costume from time to time.
Wow, the Autobots made peace with the Decepticons and support adopting space-orphan.
I’m kinda not thrilled with this shot, she has bigger biceps than me….. .. and prettier hair.
What more can be said about this?
Brilliant.
Bee’s flex’n for the crowd.
This wasn’t the Bumble Bee used for filming, it’s the Chevy Autobot edition Camaro. $40,000.00! Yeah, sign me up.
Huge Mazinger Z toy look’n thing.
Lens Flair, FIRE!!
Huge scale Gundam… droooooooolll.
This man scratch built this model of the Nautilus. It’s going to be produced as a studio scale collector’s item from EFX Collectibles.
Crazy detailed.
Chapter 3: Wow, these guys!
It wouldn’t be Comic con without some well known celebs.
Meeting Adam West was a real treat. I grew up on re-runs of the old Bat-Man show (I think most of us did). My friend Matt got a photo of Adam West punching (Matt) in the face. Matt assures me that he is going to photoshop “BIFF” “BAM” or “POW” on the image.
“The Nim” was there signing autographs. This was an incredible experience, both for a Star Trek and a Transformers fan. For those who may not know, Leonard Nimoy voiced Galvatron in the 1986 G1 “Transformers the movie“.
Other celebrities I met but didn’t get photo’s of.
-Gregg Berger, the voice of G1 Grimlock. This was cool, again, I’m a big Transformers fan. Mr. Berger autographed a nice photo glossy for me and gave me a copy of his audio book “Think Globally…Act Vocally“. To make the con more Grimlock-tastic, I picked up Taka-tomy’s MP Grimlock.
-Lou Ferrigno, This guy is in crazy good shape. My friend Matt, who loves the Hulk, got an autographed photo of himself with Lou. Matt wanted Lou to strangle him, but that wasn’t happening.
-Luciana Carro, She played Louanne “Kat” Katraine on Si-Fi’s Battlestar Galactica. I got an autograph and talked with her for a bit about how the show ended and why it sucked that they killed her character, seriously Kat and Starbuck had good on-screen friction.
Chapter 4: The end, go home.
The con ended and I still had a day left in San Diego. Normally I would’ve wondered the city taking in the site but I got crazy sick (as mention in the start of the post) and ended up going to the airport. 6 hours later I was on my flight to Chicago, then 4 hours later I was on another flight home. Because I was sick (like coughing up blood sick) the whole trip home felt like a week. I couldn’t sleep at all on the plane, the chairs are bent just right so that short people get cramps in their neck’s. Thanks airplane maker people.
Well this concludes my epic blog about Comic con. Stuff happened, I got sick, money was spent. The end.
